Have you, or will you jailbreak your iPhone?

Because of the evasi0n,
Release and 1.7 million people downloading it within minutes I wanted to learn how blind users of devices feel about the practice, and if you are comfortable with a device that has been altered.
evasi0n,
, is not the first method of jail breaking, it’s just much easier, and updated so that you can jail brake your devices running IO’S 6 and up.
Apple doesn’t like it and has gone to court to stop owners from doing it, but it was ruled to be legal. Here is Apples reasons.

S:
As designed by Apple, is and iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch are designed to work together reliably. Unauthorized modifications to is ("jail breaking") can cause numerous issues to the hacked iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. Examples of issues caused by these unauthorized modifications to is have included the following:
Instability: Frequent and unexpected crashes of the device, crashes and freezes of built-in apps and third-party apps, and loss of data.
Security vulnerabilities: Security compromises have been introduced by these modifications that could allow hackers to steal personal information, damage the device, attack the wireless network, or introduce malware or viruses.
Shortened battery life: The hacked software has caused an accelerated battery drain that shortens the operation of an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch on a single battery charge.
Unreliable voice and data: Dropped calls, slow or unreliable data connections, and delayed or inaccurate location data.
Disruption of services: Services such as Visual Voicemail, Weather, and Stocks have been disrupted or no longer work on the device. Additionally, third-party apps that use the Apple Push Notification Service have had difficulty receiving notifications or received notifications that were intended for a different hacked device. Other push-based services such as cloud and Exchange have experienced problems synchronizing data with their respective servers.
Inability to apply future software updates: Some unauthorized modifications have caused damage to be that is not repairable. This can result in the hacked iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied is update is installed.
Apple strongly cautions against installing any software that hacks is. It is also important to note that unauthorized modification of is a violation of is end-user license agreement and because of this, Apple may deny service for an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch that has installed any unauthorized software.

I personally have not jail broken my device and have no desire to do so. While I disagree that owners shouldn’t be allowed to jailbreak their devices, I think Apple has a valid point.
If you look at the Android market the devices are fragmented and don’t work exacly the same across the board. You could have the same device, but have it on a different carrier and your device will be slightly or even much different than your neighbors.
For us keeping hold or product quality, in my opinion, is one reason iPhones are easier for us to buy and use. We don’t have to worry about types, services, a device works like a device and the customer service is the same for all of them.
What do you think?
In the next IOS update will Apple ditch 1.7plus million users?
Have you or will you jailbreak your device?
Are you afraid of the warnings that your device might turn in to a snake and bite you?

i did jailbreak once a while back just to see if i could do it and it worked, however i don't see the point of it currently. My phone does all i want so right at the moment it's not on the table to jailbreak.

Coffs, keep the fragmented arguement out of this, apple is becoming fragmented as well. Ipad ariginal come to mind? Apps that are no longer getting updated, I believe its your device so you should be able to do with it as you see fit. :), Weather I am android user or an IOS user still does not matter.

I won't jailbreak my iPhone since I have a lot of secure data onboard, including Coast Guard data, and any of us holding data like that are personally responsible for what happens to it.
Now as a curiosity, I did jailbreak my iPod once. Wasn't that impressed. Yes you do need to change the passwords to the Root and Mobile accounts to something other than alpine.
I know there are countless repositories and certainly some are better than others. I think some of the claims by Apple are probably inflated, but certainly you are more subject to crashes, and certainly more subject to security vulnerabilities. I found the jailbroken OS was slower than its factory counterpart, but it had a lot more going on.

You'll need to make sure it doesn't change your triple click home option. You can add the SBSettings to your spring board in different ways to prevent it breaking the accessibility you need.
Out of the box, at least GreenP0ison didn't break anything. It's a move I would advise considering very carefully before undertaking on a "live" device, meaning a device you store real personal data on and use on a regular basis.
My iPod at the time, I was just using for working out and similar things, so after my curiosity was satisfied, I put it back.

At least two of my friends who jail broke their IPhones had serious problems with them. Both of them lost all their contacts, and at least one had problems with their VoiceOver option afterwords.

Well it seems that even the jail breaking folks make mistakes.
Evasi0n had a couple bugs so now has a new release. See this article if interested.

I am starting to wonder if the crew that has created this actually works for Apple, or has inside info.
The last break was delivered in less then 3 hours, and Apple has updated its OS more times in a short time then it every has in its history.
Kind of interesting.

I do like the appeal of having a voice other than Samantha as my default, such as tom, and I also hate iTunes. I wish you were not required to run a bloated piece of software that isn't very intuitive anyway. SO for those reasons I have given it serious consideration, but the simple fact of the matter is that I have limited time and need to prioritize what I do. And since Jailbreaking doesn't seem to offer too much more in terms of functionality, I just haven't gotten around to it. If Braille Touch could be made the default keyboard, that would seal the deal for me, but it can't, so I don't.

Here we have a couple choices that can be ran except iTunes even without jail breaking, but they are not available in the UK.
One requires a monthly fee, the others don't.

I jailbroke my iPhone for the first time last week; I was just curious to see if I could do it but the flexibility also impresses me. I like the fact that I don't need iTunes; I can just use win explorer etc. also I like the fact that I can play ogg files without having to install another player.
I am still new, so I am yet to figure out how to access the appls with Cydia etc.

I have jailbroken my phone in the past and did so with 6.1 as well. honestly though, i'm finding fewer and fewer reasons to jb the phone, as apple keeps adding features i'd like.
switching the default tts voice would be nice though. I was on a quest to get this to happen, but discovered that they don't use the same .speechvoice format...
Is there an actual extension that will allow you to load different voices? this would solve all my problems.
